Why can’t I control the scraper/plow? – What type of DAC are you using?

- Check connection to tractor
- Are there any errors on the tractor screen?
- On John Deere systems was the connection to the tractor made with the key off?
- On Case/New Holland tractors check the corner post and make sure it is programmed properly.
- Internal
- There are 3 connectors on the AFL2-i5 computer that the Internal DAC cable will fit in to, 2 on the bottom, which should have dust caps in them, and 1 on the top right corner. Make sure you are plugged into the top right corner.
- Check connection to tractor
- Are there any errors on the tractor screen?
- On John Deere systems was the connection to the tractor made with the key off?
- Is the correct COM port assigned in SD Drain. Most often the Internal DAC is on COM 9
- DAC 7000 and DAC 8000 Wired
- Are there lights on the DAC? If not check fuses.
- Check the serial cable from the DAC to the computer, it should be plugged in the port with a brown sticker labeled MC.
- Is the correct COM port assigned in SD Drain?
- On AFL2-I5’s it should be set to COM 3.
- On the VX-601 rough service computer COM 2.
- On the new PX 501 the wired com port is through a serial to USB adaptor and should be on COM 7.
Why don’t I have GPS?
- Did the globe get programmed properly before it was put on the scraper or plow? SD Drain requires GGA, GSA and RMC.
- Is the power light on the globe lit up?
- If the globe doesn’t have a power light are the lights on the DAC 7000/8000 on?
- The DAC 7000/8000 and the globe use the same power source. If the lights on the DAC are not on check fuses and power connections.
Why is my GPS signal poor?
- If you are running a base in the field check the battery status
- If you are using the tower network, how far away is the tower? Anything over 2 miles is less than optimal.
- Time of day. Check GPS forecasts.
- Are you by a building or trees?
Why do I have poor grade control?
- Was anything changed over the winter. Repaired hydraulic systems will cause the scraper or plow to react differently.
- Check flow setting on tractor
- Was firmware updated n tractor?
- Is your GPS jumpy?
- Is the output rate of the GPS set to 10 Hz?
I have a Case/New Holland tractor, why are the hydraulics are moving when sitting still.
- We have found that Case tractors sometimes have grounding issues when connected through the convenience port in the cab of the tractor. The simplest way to fix this is to remove the ground wire from the Rust Sales convenience port connector and run it to the ground side of the battery.
I am using a John Deere tractor, why does my blade goes down hard all the time?
- To enable the John Deere hydraulic control, push the scv forward until it clicks and release, do not lock in detent
